Citrus French Toast Bake

  • 2 Sunkist® Meyer lemons, zested and juiced
  • 2 Sunkist® Minneola tangelos, zested and juiced
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 8 eggs
  • 1.5 cups milk
  • 1 French baguette


Preparation : 15 minutes

Chilling : Overnight in refrigerator

Baking : 45-50 minutes


  1. Drizzle melted butter into a 9x13-inch glass baking pan. Set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. In a medium bowl, lightly beat eggs, freshly squeezed Sunkist® Meyer lemon and Sunkist® Minneola Tangelo oranges juices, freshly grated zests and milk. Set aside.
  4. Sprinkle one-third of sugar mixture evenly over melted butter in baking pan.
  5. Cut French baguette into 20 1-inch slices.
  6. Add 10 slices of baguette to baking pan and drizzle half of egg mixture over bread.
  7. Sprinkle with half of remaining sugar mixture and top with remaining slices of bread.
  8. Drizzle with remaining egg mixture and sprinkle with remaining sugar mixture.
  9. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  10. When ready to serve, preheat oven to 350°F.
  11. Bake uncovered for about 45 – 50 minutes, until golden brown and custard is set.
  12. Cut into squares and serve warm.
